Podcast | Two Charities, One Mission: Supporting Families & Young People in Crisis
In the ninth episode of our Beyond Funding podcast, we’re joined by Kat Osborn, Co-CEO of Safe Families and Home for Good. Safe Families is an inspirational charity working to provide support, hope and belonging to struggling families; helping to decrease the flow of children into care.
Safe Families is going through an exciting change, having recently merged with Home for Good – a charity with a bold vision to find a home for every child who needs one. Working together, both charities are providing a holistic solution to a growing care crisis in the UK. Their goal is to prevent families reaching crisis point in the first place, but if this can’t be prevented, it’s finding a safe and supportive home for young people entering the care system.
In this episode, we explore the challenges families are facing, the rising number of young people in the care system, and what more needs to be done at a government level.
You’ll hear some heartwarming stories of families and young people who have been supported and get a glimpse of what’s on the horizon for both charities.
The ninth Beyond Funding podcast: ‘Two Charities, One Mission: Supporting Families & Young People in Crisis’ is available on Youtube and Spotify
I think the care system is fractured. Some might go as far to say it’s broken. There are more children in our care system now than ever before, that’s over 100,000 children in care.
